Daneen Uhlhorn graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a minor in History and Social Studies. In 1990, she married Wayne Uhlhorn and taught second grade at St. John’s Lutheran in Lannon, WI while Wayne completed his Seminary training.
Pastor and Daneen have four children. Jennifer is a Kindergarten teacher in Milwaukee. Her husband is studying to be a pastor at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. Marissa is living in Baltimore while she completes an internship on her way to becoming a registered dietician. Ryan is in his second year at Colorado State University. Michael is in his second year at Grand Canyon University.
While raising their young family, Mrs. Uhlhorn continued in the teaching field. She taught art and music at an early childhood center in North Dakota, instructed young children in gymnastic and movement classes at the YMCA in Baltimore, and has always been involved in Sunday School and youth music. She helped launch early childhood centers in her husband’s churches in Baltimore and Colorado Springs, teaching in both. She taught Kindergarten at Salem Lutheran in Colorado Springs and gave administrative leave to that principal teaching music, art, English, and social studies. For the last 5 years she was the director and lead teacher at Shining Stars Learning Center, the early childhood ministry at Fount of Life Lutheran church in Colorado Springs.
Daneen has a passion for teaching and loves seeing the joy of learning on the faces of her students. The best is telling them about Jesus their Savior, who loves them and has taken their sins away. She looks forward to meeting her new students and their families!
